Seven Fallen Feathers

Seven Fallen Feathers is a perfect example of taking a tragedy and turning it into something beautiful and provocative. Full of vibrant colours, Christian Morrisseau was inspired to create Seven Fallen Feathers the day after 145 inquest recommendations were released on the deaths of seven indigenous students in Thunder Bay. Christian’s son, Kyle was one of the seven young students who were tragically lost.

Christian wanted to harness his pain and grieve to share the story of the seven lives lost. The painting captures the students’ passage into the spirit world, guided by the family members who have gone before them. Each of the students are represented in the painting.
